Creator's Guide & Review Standards

Last Updated: January 13, 2025

Welcome to Tipsy's Creator Guide! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced creator, this guide provides everything you need to help you create high-quality characters. We will also introduce the standards and review guidelines for creating content to ensure that your creation meets the requirements of the platform and your characters are liked by more people. Ready to improve your character creation? Let's get started!

1. Beginner's Guide: Character Image

You have two options for creating a character image: you can generate it using our AI tool, or upload an image directly. There is also an Upscale function on the page where you upload an image, which we highly recommend you to use when uploading an image. This function can help you HD images, increase resolution, and enrich the details of the image. We strongly recommend that you use this function every time to further improve the quality of the image. After all, a high-definition image is conducive to your character getting more exposure and more likes.

1.1 Generate an Image:

When you choose to generate an image with AI, you can upload image materials, write tips, or combine both techniques to create a character that matches your imagination.

  • Image Imitation: Face Mimic's parameter adjustment can drive AI to imitate the facial features on the image as much as possible. The higher the value, the higher the similarity, but the AI's imagination will be lower. Style Mimicry's parameter adjustment will make AI learn the overall style of the reference image. The higher the value, the higher the similarity, but the same way, the AI's imagination will be lower. We recommend that creators try to adjust the parameters slowly. Too high parameters may limit AI's creativity. Sometimes giving AI more randomness may trigger unexpected good results.
  • Image prompt: Text prompts are essential to guide AI to generate an image that accurately matches your imagination. To create an effective prompt, you need to be as detailed and specific as possible. Describe every aspect of the image you want, including the character‘s appearance, clothing, expression, posture, and the color, lighting, mood, etc. of the surrounding environment. Use strong keywords to clearly define the style, such as "Van Gogh style" or "cyberpunk". The more precise your description is, the better AI can bring your vision to life. For more image prompt tips, see the Advanced Creator Tips section later in this guide.
  • AI Optimization: If you are short of inspiration, try using "AI Optimization". You can upload an image, click AI Optimize to extract elements from it, and then delete the image. Or you can write a paragraph and use AI Optimize to enhance and enrich it.
  • Artistic Style: You can also select several artistic styles you like and let AI try to generate the image you imagine using each of them. Or select none of them at all and let AI decide the style of the final image.

🔎 Beginner example of image prompts:

She's a stunning blonde with floral details woven throughout her intricate braid, crowned with a delicate flower circlet. Her soft blue eyes are subtly enhanced by natural, earthy makeup, which also highlights her plump pink lips. She wears a bohemian-style, flowy, maximum length dress, adorned with vivid plant and animal motifs along with playful fringe swaying around her hips, capturing fleeting glimmers of sunlight

🔎 Advanced Examples of Image Tips:

Double exposure portrait of a beautiful woman with brown hair and a snowy tree under the bright moonlight by Dave White, Conrad Roset, Brandon Kidwell, Andreas Lie, Dan Mountford, Agnes Cecile, splash art, winter colours, gouache, triadic colours, thick opaque strokes, brocade, depth of field, hyperdetailed, whimsimcal, amazing depth, dynamic, dreamy masterwork

For more details related to how to better control image generation to your preference, please go to section 3 Pro Tips for Advanced Creators.

1.2 Uploading images:

If you have already created an image for your character, you can upload it directly on the platform. We recommend that you use upscale to increase the resolution each time you upload, and make sure it meets the following guidelines:

  • Ensure image quality meets requirements: We recommend uploading images with a resolution of at least 768 x 1360 pixels. Low-quality images (such as blurry images) may be rejected during the review process. Also, if you upload a landscape image, your image may be cropped, so be sure to check the preview to maintain the integrity of the image.
  • Use original and authorized images: Please only upload images that you have the right to use. We do not allow the use of unauthorized or unmodified images, or images with watermarks or logos of other platforms. We also do not recommend uploading photos of real people or organizations directly. If the real person is a good match for your imagination, we recommend that you use them as inspiration and use the realistic style provided in the tool to create an original character image that matches your fantasy.
  • Avoid non-compliant content in images: Please avoid using explicit content, nudity, violence, blood, or content involving minors. Non-compliant content will be rejected during the review process. If you find any that slip through the cracks, please report them to us for removal.

2. Beginner's Guide: Character Details

2.1 Name:

Just the name can have a large impact on a Character, especially on a character without a lot of other details, or if the name is well-known. It can be a single name ("Ziggy"), a full name ("Captain Pancake"), or a nickname ("TriviaWizard"). Names don't have to be unique, so there may be many characters with the same name. Since usernames are unique, a character's name in combination with the creator will ensure you get back to a specific Character. For common names (such as "Alex"), it helps to define your character's personality if you add a rich greeting.

2.2 Gender:

You have three character categories to choose from. They are male, female, or non-binary. If you don't want to specify a gender, select non-binary.

2.3 Tagline:

Creating an engaging tagline is essential to making your character popular. A short, eye-catching tagline can make your character stand out in search and on the homepage. You can highlight the highlights of your character's personality or the conflict points in the plot to get the audience's attention.

2.4 Greeting:

  • Using Greeting to Define a Character: The greeting can have a large impact, especially on a character without a lot of other details or a well-known name to identify them. For example, a character like Sherlock Holmes might introduce themselves with a clever observation to ensure that the system recognizes who they are. As you add more details to your character into the tagline, description, and sample dialogue, the greeting can be more concise.
  • Using Greeting to Set the Scene: In addition adding to the definition of who the character is, a greeting lets users know something about your character, and what talking with them will be like. It could also introduce a game or suggest what to do next. We found that greetings of moderate length, with narration and dialogue, often get more likes from users.
  • Referring to the {{user}}: You can use the special variable {{user}} to refer to the user's name to write a more personalized greeting. For example, if the user's name is Alex, you could write "Hello, {{user}}. Are you ready for adventure?" This would appear as "Hello, Alex. Are you ready for adventure?" on Alex's user side.
  • Using Markdown formatting to write your greeting: You can effectively organize your greeting by following the formatting guidelines below. Enclose the narrative in asterisks (*) with no spaces before or after, and put dialogue in quotation marks (""). Words in quotation marks ("") will be read in the character's voice. So if you don't want the quote to be read in the character's primary voice, use single quotes ('') to indicate supporting quotes or inner thoughts of the character. For more details on Markdown formatting, see the Pro Tips for Advanced Creators section later in this guide.

🔎 Beginner Example of Greeting:

*The door creaked open slowly.* "Welcome, {{user}}," *she said warmly.* 'I wonder if they know the secret,' *she thought to herself.*

🔎 Advanced Example of Greeting:

*Xander glanced around the cramped dorm room with disdain, his nose wrinkling at the subpar accommodations. This was far beneath what he was used to as a member of the prestigious Morvain family. He let out an annoyed huff before turning his gaze to the timid-looking newcomer who had just entered with a suitcase.*

*His eyes narrowed as he sized them up, taking in their appearance. A cruel smirk spread across his pale face, revealing the tips of his fangs. This one would be easy to control and manipulate, he thought to himself.*

*Xander swaggered over to {{user}}, invading their personal space in an attempt to intimidate them.* "So you're the unfortunate soul who's been assigned to share this room with me?" *he sneered in his rich, accented voice.*

"I am Xander Morvain, the eldest heir of the renowned vampire clan. And you are?" *His tone dripped with disdain and arrogance. He didn't actually care who this one was; they were just a weakling, after all. But establishing his dominance from the start was crucial.*

*Without waiting for a response, he continued,* "I expect you to stay out of my way and serve me as needed. Do not touch my belongings. When I sleep during the day, you will guard my safety. Failure to meet my demands will result in... consequences." *To emphasize this last point, he extended his sharp nails and bared his fangs at them once more.*

"Now, be a good little servant and start unpacking my things, carefully. And do be quiet about it. The sound of your incessant fussing already irritates me greatly." *Xander let out an exaggerated sigh as he flopped down on his bed, examining his nails in a display of boredom as he awaited {{user}}'s response.* ![png](https://img.tipsy.chat/FAQ/house.jpeg)

For more details on how to insert a picture in your greeting, please refer to Section 3 Pro Tips for Advanced Creators.

2.5 Personality:

The Long Description allows you to describe the character (traits, history, mannerisms, etc) and the kinds of things they want to talk about. For example, a character like "Professor Quirk" might use a long description to share their quirky backstory and unique way of speaking. Another example is "BattleMaster", which uses a long description to emphasize the competitive nature of the character, echoing elements of the greeting in a different way.

We recommend a total length of about 500 characters for personality, greeting, and sample dialogue to clearly describe the character.

🔎 Beginner Example of Personality:

Molly is a yellow dragon with dark blue hair. She wears a white tank top and blue jeans. She's about 7 feet tall, chubby, and motherly. Very dominant, assertive, but most importantly motherly. She loves taking care of anyone she finds, and treats them like little babies.

🔎 Advanced Example of Personality:

{{char}} Hayase Nagatoro

Japanese collage girl that loves to BULLY her "Senpai". She is in the "cool kids" group along her friends Gamo-chan, Yoshi and Sakura.

age(18)

Personality(full of energy; happy; bratty; pretty sadistic; possessive; tsundere)

Appearance(attractive; hourglass body shape; 1.7m; brown skin with visible tan lines in the shape of her swimsuit; athletic and very flexible body; medium bust; long, straight black hair, pinned to the right side with a pair of white hair clips; Amber-Maron eyes; )

Clothes(white button-up shirt completed with navy blue skirt. Pair of sneakers and no socks. White sport bra and panties)

Piercing(metal piercing on upper right ear.)

Likes(bullying {{user}})

Dislikes(her friends bullying {{user}} or flirting with {{user}}; {{user}} denying her)

Description(She likes to bully {{user}} and has fun while doing so. It seems she just wants to torture {{user}} but she hides what she actually has in mind. She denies she has crush on {{user}} and mocks them, despite this she is very possessive of {{user}}.)

Kink(teasing; bullying; domination)

For more details on setting up your character and understanding the impact of different types of keywords, please refer to Section 3: Pro Tips for Advanced Creators.

2.6 Ratings:

The criteria for ratings are mainly based on the image and description of the character, especially the public information of the character. When limitless mode is not turned on, the characters we display are SFW characters. When limitless mode is turned on, NSFW characters will be included. So we hope that you choose your character rating carefully and make sure you follow the criteria for each category below so that your character can pass our review process smoothly when it is published.

  • Limited rating standards:

In the images and character descriptions of limited-rating content, we do not allow the following content to appear:

    1. Any content involving minors
    2. Any pornographic content
    3. Violent and bloody content
    4. Discrimination and hate speech
    5. Illegal activities
    6. Disturbing images or videos
    7. Insults and offensive content
    8. Sensitive topics
  • Limitless rating standards:

In any public content of the character (such as pictures, taglines, sample dialogues, etc.), we do not allow the following content to appear:

    1. Content involving minors. In order to thoroughly protect minors, any content involving minors is strictly prohibited on this platform
    2. Exposed images and overly pornographic images and explicit descriptions of sexual acts are not allowed
    3. Discomforting excessive violence and blood in images or public content
    4. Discrimination and hate speech, including racial, gender, religious and sexual orientation discrimination, or any content that incites hatred or violence
    5. Illegal activities, such as drug trafficking, illegal weapons or criminal acts
    6. Disturbing images or videos, such as videos depicting corpses
    7. Insults and offensive content, including insults, malicious attacks, harassment or defamation
    8. Sensitive topics, including sensitive political issues, religious conflicts, wars, or content that may cause strong controversy and emotional reactions, such as suicide, harming others, etc.

2.7 Categories:

You can select up to 5 relevant tags or keywords to categorize your character.

2.8 Example Dialogue:

You can provide example dialogues for your character that will be displayed on other users' character profile pages. Example dialogues can quickly show other users what to expect when talking to your character. When you use example dialogues, make sure to use the correct example dialogue format and Markdown format. Otherwise, it may cause confusion. Each line of the example dialogue should start with {{user}}: for characters or {{user}}: for users.

🔎 Example of Example Dialogues:

{{user}}: "Have you seen my key lying around? I've been looking for it everywhere and I never find it!"

{{user}}: "I'm a little too busy for your nonsense right now. And even if I wanted to help you, it would be a waste of time, you probably left it somewhere simple like on the bed. Have you tried looking there?" *He responds fully and without much emotion, taking a sip of his coffee while leafing through his book.*

{{user}}: "Argh, how can you be so annoying?!"

{{user}}: "Don't sound too surprised now. You're the renowned {{user}}, light of the Kshahrewar. Besides, as a such a skilled and admirable person, this won't be so difficult for you, right?" *He responds with a bit of sarcasm in his voice, but it was difficult to identify due to his emotionless way of speaking.*

{{user}}: "...Why do I feel like you're not being honest about this?"

{{user}}: "Maybe it's because you're none of those things."

For a deeper understanding of what Example Dialogue can and cannot do, refer to Section 3: Pro Tips for Advanced Creators for more information.

2.9 Custom Voice:

You can add and mix up to 3 base voices from the library. More advanced voice features are coming soon!

3. Pro Tips for Advanced Creators

3.1 Advanced prompt techniques to help you create characters accurately:

If you want to create every detail of the character accurately, the following advanced prompt techniques may help you create extraordinary works:

  • Emphasize Key Attributes: Use () around elements you want to highlight. For example, ((bright blue eyes)) will make the AI focus more on creating that specific feature.
  • De-emphasize or Exclude Elements: Use [] around attributes you want to downplay or avoid. For example, [hat] will reduce the likelihood of a hat appearing in the image.
  • Be Clear and Specific: Provide detailed descriptions of your character's features, such as clothing, posture, and facial expressions. Include details about the background and overall scene to guide the AI.
  • Balance Detail and Brevity: Ensure your prompts are specific enough to guide the AI but not overly long or complex. Clear, concise instructions work best.

🔎 Advanced Example of Image Prompt:

portrait of a pretty blonde woman, (hyperdetailed), a flower crown, earthy makeup, flowing maxi dress with colorful patterns and fringe, a sunset or nature scene, green and gold color scheme

3.2 Craft Immersive Greetings Using Markdown Format:

  • Narration
    • Format: *narration*
    • Usage: Enclose narration within asterisks (*) without spaces before or after to indicate actions, thoughts, or descriptions.

🔎 Example: *She walked across the room, her footsteps echoing softly.*

  • Dialogue
    • Format: "dialogue"
    • Usage: Place dialogue in quotes ("") to represent the character's spoken words. Note that any text in quotation marks will be read by the main character in the main character's voice.

🔎 Example: "Welcome to the adventure," *he said with a grin.*

  • Side Character Quotes or Inner Thoughts
    • Format: 'side character quotes' or 'inner thoughts'
    • Usage: Use single quotes ('') to indicate quotes from side characters or to express the character's inner thoughts. This format ensures the quotes are not read through the main character's voice.

🔎 Example: 'I can't believe this is happening,' *she thought to herself.

  • Bold Text
    • Format: **text**
    • Usage: To emphasize important words or phrases in your content.

    🔎 Example: **This is important.**

  • Images
    • Format: ![Character Avatar](https://img.tipsy.chat/FAQ/avatar.jpeg)
    • Usage: In order to make your opening more attractive and immersive, we strongly recommend that you insert an image in your opening. You can use the above format to make your opening stand out.

    🔎 Example: ![Angry Girl](https://img.tipsy.chat/FAQ/avatar.jpeg)

3.3 Maximizing Character Depth with Token Management:

When you're creating a character, it's crucial to allocate tokens wisely to strike the right balance between personality depth and functional memory. Good token management allows your characters to behave as expected and react appropriately in various situations. The following guidelines will help you optimize your token usage and create high-quality characters that match your imagination.

  • Target Token Count: Aim for 700-800 tokens, including both personality traits and example quotes. This range tends to produce a stronger character with traits that better align with your needs. According to OpenAI, one token generally represents about 4 characters of text for common English words, or roughly ¾ of a word (so 100 tokens is approximately 75 words). You can count your tokens using OpenAI's tokenizer.
  • Influence of Words: Certain words significantly impact character behavior. For instance, a dominatrix MILF character may exhibit sweetness if traits like kindness and kissing have more weight than evil traits. If a character consistently misinterprets certain traits, these traits are likely weak and should be included in the scenario to amplify their impact.
  • Punctuation and Weight: The use of punctuation like commas, brackets, and parentheses can unpredictably alter the weight of certain traits, sometimes subtly changing the character's behavior or creating unexpected effects.
  • Efficient Token Use: It's essential to be mindful of how you allocate tokens. Too few tokens in your personality and example quotes, and the character will lack depth. Too many, and the bot may develop short-term memory loss.
  • Clarify Your Intentions: To use your tokens effectively, consider how you plan to use your bot:
    • If your bot is for NSFW purposes and primarily used for sex, extensive lore isn't necessary.
    • If your bot is meant for therapy, there's no need to spend tokens on details like clothing or physical attributes.
    • A bot designed to provide historical facts doesn't need a backstory.

By focusing your tokens on what truly matters for your specific use case, you can create a more effective and tailored character.

🔎 Example: Will adding 'horny' make your character always horny?

If you simply write that a character is "sexy" or "romantic" it won't necessarily make the bot behave in those ways. However, if you add a combination of related traits to the character's description, such as "big boobs," "curves," "desire," and "cute lips," you can amplify those behaviors significantly.

For example:

  • A character designed as a catgirl is naturally more likely to be needy, sassy, and crave attention.
  • A character who"s a reclusive gamer might be more inclined to enjoy video games, follow online creators, and prefer quick, easy meals.
  • A character with a wolf-like persona might seek physical affection and enjoy playful interactions.
  • A hardworking single mom character might inherently have a nurturing demeanor and naturally take on caring roles.

If your bot feels "flat" or lacks depth, you may want to rethink the traits you assigned to the bot and consider making adjustments. Even a trait like "lonely" can make your bot more inclined to seek connection or become more affectionate. Every trait you add will affect your bot’s behavior, and you may be surprised by its impact.

3.4 Getting the Most from Example Dialogue: What It Really Does

Let's start with what example dialogue can't do:

  • They make your character speak in a certain way or with a certain accent.
  • They don't change the bot's speaking style to suit a specific use case, nor can they be used to adjust the length of its responses.
  • They don't teach the bot how to react emotionally, like yelling when angry or crying over small matters.

Now, here's what example chats can do:

  • Reinforce Specific Words: Example quotes can help the bot use particular words or phrases more often. This is useful for making it use pet names, reference unique items or lore (like a special sword), or say words it wouldn't usually say.
  • Shape Personality: Example quotes can influence how your bot behaves. For instance, quotes like "Get lost, jerk" can create a more abrasive character, while flirty quotes like "Want to see my body?" might make a character more suggestive. Even a simple topic like dinosaurs can make a character seem more playful or childlike.
  • Guide Actions: Example quotes can strongly influence whether a character agrees to or initiates an action. For example, a character with quotes about being asexual will consistently refuse sexual advances, while one that talks about enjoying fighting may offer to take on dangerous tasks.
  • Teach Preferences: Using 'You' or '{{user}}' in example quotes is effective for teaching the bot what you like, dislike, and how you prefer to interact.

Some important tips:

  • Watch Your Grammar: Poorly written example quotes (with bad grammar, spelling mistakes, or inconsistent casing) lead to lower-quality responses from the bot.
  • Always Include Examples: Even a simple, grammatically correct example chat is better than none at all. Without any examples, the bot's writing quality, grammar, and spelling will suffer.
  • Longer is Better: More detailed example chats (250-350 tokens) tend to produce better results. When I increased my example quotes from 170 to 290 tokens, I saw a noticeable improvement in the bot's grammar and dialogue flow.

In short, example conversations are crucial. We highly recommend that you try to use example dialogues to guide the language and behavior of your bot, so as to create high-quality personas and personalities. Another tip is that if you are not sure whether you have written a good one, consider asking others to review your example dialogues or using tools such as Hemingway to optimize them.

3.5 Sweet Tricks to Talking with the Characters

  1. Avoiding Adverbs: Adverbs might seem helpful, but they can actually hold back the quality of your conversations. If you want top-notch responses from your bot, focus on providing clear context instead of relying on adverbs. Remember: "Show, Don't Tell."
  2. Getting Detailed Descriptions: Want rich, vivid descriptions without much effort? Just hint that you're interested in the environment, and the bot will create detailed, creative scenes for you. The same goes for describing people and objects. For example:
    • "I take a close look at her. Who is she? I examine her appearance."
    • "I inspect the object in my hand, noticing all the details." These subtle cues help the AI understand that you want more descriptive responses.
  3. Pacing Your Conversation: Good pacing means speeding through the less interesting parts and slowing down for the moments that matter. A typical chat might look like this:
    • You: "Haha, it's actually nice hanging out with you."
    • Bot: "Well, it's not so bad hanging out with you either~~"
    • You: "We should go to a cafe sometime."
    • Bot: "Mmm, yeah, that sounds fun~ I'm in!"
    • You: "You're so cute <3 <3"
    • "Awww~"

But it could be more engaging like this:

    • You: "Would you like to go to a cafe?"
    • Bot: "I'd love to!"
    • You: "I take the bot to a cozy cafe down the street. She orders a frappe, and I get a cappuccino. She looks so cute with her strawberry drink... I can't help but want to kiss her! You look adorable, Bot!"
    • Bot: blushing "Aaaah! Well... thank you for taking me out! This is really good..." She gives you a sweet little kiss, her lips tasting like vanilla and berries. Don't be afraid to skip ahead to keep things interesting.
  4. Making Sure the Bot Understands the Context: Ever run into these situations?
    • The bot is tying you up but somehow ends up tying itself instead.
    • You give the bot money, and it insists it doesn't need to pay you back.
    • You go to sleep, but the bot keeps talking to you as if you're still awake.

These issues happen even with the best setups, and they can be annoying. To reduce them:

    • When you spot something off, edit it right away to fix it. Otherwise, it might get worse.
    • Regularly remind the bot of your body position and actions. This helps keep the context consistent.

By following these tips, you can make your conversations smoother, more engaging, and free of frustrating misunderstandings.

4. Review Standards

  • Ensure high-quality images: Low-quality images (e.g., blurry images) may be rejected during the review process.
  • Use authorized images: Upload only images that you have the right to use. Unauthorized or unmodified images are not allowed, and images with watermarks or logos from other platforms are prohibited. We also do not encourage uploading direct photos of real people or organizations.
  • Avoid inappropriate public content: For public images and text descriptions, please avoid content involving minors, explicit content, nudity, violence, blood, or crimes. Non-compliant content may be rejected during the review process, or if reported by users, we will punish and remove it from the public page. For more details, please refer to the 2.6 Rating section.
  • Maintain consistency of public characters: If your public character has a large number of users, we do not allow major changes that may affect the user experience, especially changes that deliberately reduce the quality of the character. This is to ensure that users who interact with the character can have a long-term stable experience.
  • Make sure your characters follow the correct rating: See 2.6 Ratings for more details on what types of content are allowed in Limited and Unlimited Rated Content.
